How to Host a Successful Virtual Event

2020 has been a wild year and definitely has put a wrench in a lot of plans! It forces us to get creative with events amongst the current status of social distancing. Virtual events is one outlet that a lot of companies are leaning towards to continue to host events successfully and safety. Virtual Events: The Trend of 2020

With limitations set in place in most states, it is very hard to host a social gathering in 2020, but have no fear, Virtual Events are here! I mean who isn’t down for a virtual event of socializing from the comfort of your home? It is also something to break up the normal work day. Here are some tips to host a successful event and to keep participants engaged through a screen:

• Pick a Platform: From google hangouts to zoom, there are a lot of platforms to host your virtual events. Pick one that allows you to provide the same value as an in-person event.

• Incentives Incentives Incentives: Swag always make an event better in-person so bring that to the comfort of their homes. You can also incentivize by giving the first 50 people to sign up with an awesome gift like a CamelBak, Yeti tumbler, or duffel bag.

• Make it Feel “Official”: Bring in sponsors, have speakers wear your logo clear on apparel, have a banner, have the backdrop, or have attendees have a background for the event.

• Create Some #Buzz: Create social media buzz with using a snapchat filter or creating a hashtag for the event and encourage participants to post on social.

• Set Up a Pop-Up Shop: Who doesn’t love swag. Create a pop-up shop for swag for attendees where they can get gifts from the event.

• Get Engaged: It can be difficult to engage people through a computer screen so get creative. Come up with ice breakers, games, etc. that can get participants engaged in the event.

• Practice Makes Perfect: Don’t beat yourself up if the first event didn’t go as planned. Practice makes perfect and you’ll learn from your mistakes and do better in your next event!

• Don’t forget to have fun!: 2020 is a rollercoaster and we all need fun in our lives. Make it light and do not forget to have fun!
